IT STARTED WITH CARE IN COSTA RICA
Compañera was created in Costa Rica to help older people and their families find dependable care. Its founders went on to build and manage home-care, senior-living and healthcare businesses in Costa Rica and Asia.
That experience revealed a broader problem. Families often do not know what type of care they need, which providers operate in their area, what questions to ask or how to compare one option with another. This is especially difficult for expats, retirees and relatives arranging care from another country.
Compañera now fills that gap through free introductions to participating agencies and a $300 Personal Care Search covering up to three specific options. We help families assess the choices and offer practical guidance, while the family makes the final decision. We do not employ caregivers or provide the care ourselves.
Andrew has worked in senior care and healthcare since 2005. He has developed senior-living projects in Latin America, including Costa Rica, and founded and led Pillar Health, a home-care company in Malaysia that served thousands of older, ill and disabled clients. He also helped build RingMD, a Singapore telemedicine company that expanded across Asia.
His operating experience helps families understand what to ask, how different care models work and which type of provider may be appropriate for their situation.
Giovanni is a Costa Rican entrepreneur with many years of experience in customer-focused businesses. He understands the country, its communities and the practical challenges families face when arranging services locally.
Having cared for his own mother, Giovanni also understands the personal side of elder care and the importance of listening carefully before suggesting a next step.
